Alfred Stoddart on Jackson Weir White: 'He told me weeks out he couldn’t make weight – I respect that'"
The veteran of adversity prepares for Eternal MMA 96
Alfred Stoddart will return to the cage on June 21 at Eternal MMA 96, where he takes on Jackson Weir White in a catchweight clash now set at 80kg. Originally scheduled for 77kg, the fight was shifted after White reportedly requested a change — weeks ahead of time.
“He told me weeks out he couldn’t make weight – I actually respect that,”
Stoddart said on the Australian MMA Podcast.
“It’s better than pulling a David Martinez and doing it on weigh-in day.”

Stoddart’s outlook: fast start, hard pace
Known for fighting anyone, anywhere, anytime, Stoddart says he’s flipping the script from his past middleweight bouts and plans to start fast.
“I want to go really hard early. The weight drop has made me faster, stronger, and I can wrestle for days. I’ve been training like I’ve got a gas tank that doesn’t end.”
Despite having another fight tentatively booked for July 12 against Junior Mo, Alfred isn’t looking past Jackson.
“Mentally, I’ve got one fight. Jackson White. Everything else is noise until then.”

A smarter weight cut — no water loading here
Stoddart’s weight-cutting strategy has become somewhat legendary. While many fighters dehydrate heavily during fight week, Alfred uses a gradual, body-aware approach.
“I’ve eaten ribs and still made weight”
“I’ve cut from 94kg and woken up on weight — no sauna, no suffering,” he explained. “I just don’t do the water loading thing. It damages your kidneys and your heart. I cut smarter, not harder.”
His method has reportedly helped other fighters on his team make tough weight cuts with ease.

Stoddart’s take on modern MMA: “Too many celebrity fighters”
Stoddart didn’t hold back when reflecting on today’s fight culture. He believes a growing number of fighters are chasing Instagram followers over real adversity.
“Some people want to be celebrities, not fighters. They duck fights, avoid risks, and if they lose once — they quit. That’s not fighting.”
“When I was coming up, I looked at guys like John Fraser and Kit Campbell with admiration. These days, it’s all about looking good online.”

Fight prediction? “Pain.”
When asked how the Jackson Weir White fight goes, Alfred didn’t mince words:
“I’m coming out hard. I want to hurt him. The experimental phase of my career is over. I’m here to make a statement.”
