Jimmy Crute Secures Emotional UFC Victory, Eyes Title Run and Calls for Dustin Jacoby Fight in Perth
Jimmy Crute Gets Back in the Win Column with Vintage Armbar Finish

After a rollercoaster week and a string of controversial results, Australian UFC light heavyweight Jimmy Crute is back where he belongs – in the winner’s circle.
Crute submitted his opponent with a slick armbar, reminding fans of the submission skills that first made him one of Australia’s most exciting MMA prospects.
“Victory is just a cherry on top,” Crute said post-fight. “I’m just happy to be alive every day.”
The finish, which required a few technical adjustments, was a nod to Crute’s early days when armbars were his signature move.
"I used to hit everyone with armbars early in my career... as soon as I got it, I was like, 'Thank you.'"
A Career Reignited: “I See a World Title in My Picture”
Crute, now still just 28 years old, has essentially grown up in the UFC. With limited experience before signing with the promotion, he admits he’s been learning on the job. But now, he believes his time has finally arrived.
“For the first time in my career, I see a world title in my picture,” he revealed. “I’ve never been able to visualise it – and now I can.”
The performance marked a mental shift for Crute, who said every moment of his life is either spent training or thinking about training. His commitment paid off with a clean finish and renewed momentum.
Dustin Jacoby in Perth? Jimmy Crute Makes His Pitch
Crute didn’t hesitate when asked what’s next. He floated the idea of fighting Dustin Jacoby on the upcoming UFC Fight Night card in Perth, a bout he sees as mutually beneficial.
“It’s a good test for both of us... he’s a hell of a crafty dude,” Crute said, noting that Jacoby’s name “just popped” into his head in the moment.
Whether the UFC would consider placing Crute in a main event slot remains to be seen, but the Victorian native made one thing clear – he doesn’t care where or when. “A fight’s a fight,” he shrugged. “It doesn’t matter.”
Lessons from Robert Whittaker: “He Showed Me Aussies Can Do It”

Crute also paid tribute to his longtime mentor, Robert Whittaker, who he trained with in the lead-up to this fight. Crute spoke glowingly of the former UFC middleweight champion, calling him “my hero growing up.”
“Rob’s very wise. He just drops little bits of gold when he talks,” Crute said. “Sharing a room with him is always special.”
The two trained together in the lead-up to both their fights, and Crute is confident Whittaker will soon be holding UFC gold again.
“He’s going to win a world title. He’s not going anywhere.”
What’s Next for Jimmy Crute?
With the UFC reportedly planning a Fight Night in Perth, Crute’s timing couldn’t be better. He’s healthy, motivated, and hungry for a ranked opponent like Dustin Jacoby.
If this is indeed the start of a title run, fans can look back on this comeback victory as the turning point – when Jimmy Crute stopped “learning on the job” and started chasing gold.
