Proving Grounds Fight League 7: Australia’s Top Amateur Talent Set to Shine on the Gold Coast

Proving Grounds Fight League returns with its seventh instalment this Saturday, July 26, promising another action-packed night of amateur MMA. Held at the Sharks Events Centre in Southport, Queensland, PGFL 7 will feature 15 scheduled bouts, bringing together some of the most exciting up-and-coming fighters from across Australia.
With no titles on the line, the event remains true to its mission, offering a professional-level platform for amateurs to test themselves, develop under real fight conditions, and take one step closer to the pro ranks.
A Development-Driven Showcase
Since its launch in 2021, Proving Grounds Fight League has earned a strong reputation for staging competitive, well-matched amateur cards. PGFL 7 continues that tradition, giving fans a chance to see the next wave of talent emerge in real time.
Each bout on the card offers something different, from debut fighters making their first walk to the cage, to seasoned amateurs building strong regional records. For many, this event is not just about a win, it’s about proving they have the discipline, mindset, and skill to progress in the sport.
Dalrymple vs Gould Set for Co-Main Event
With the unfortunate cancellation of the previously scheduled bout between Kai Kirby and Zach Touma, featherweights Jaden Dalrymple (3–1) and Aidyn Gould (4–0) now step into the spotlight as the co-main event.
Gould remains undefeated and has quickly built a reputation as a composed, technical athlete with strong fundamentals. Dalrymple, with three wins already under his belt, brings a well-rounded game and a hunger to hand Gould his first career loss. It’s a high-stakes clash that’s expected to deliver fireworks.
Main Event: Aston vs O’Brien
The main event features a compelling featherweight matchup between Dominic Aston (6–1) and Joshua O’Brien (5–5). Aston comes into the bout with solid amateur credentials and will be looking to reinforce his status as a standout on the local scene. O’Brien, a veteran of the regional circuit, has the experience to make things difficult — and the toughness to push any opponent into deep waters.
While not a title bout, this main event holds plenty of meaning, particularly for Aston, who continues to build a strong case for a professional future.
Grassroots MMA at Its Best
With a loyal fanbase, strong gym involvement, and a clear commitment to fighter safety and development, PGFL has become a vital part of Australia’s MMA infrastructure. Events like PGFL 7 are where stars are born — long before the lights of the UFC or PFL ever shine.
Saturday night’s card may not carry championship gold, but for the fighters stepping into the cage, the stakes couldn’t be higher. For fans, it’s a ringside seat to the future of Australian MMA.
